Questions on Ink Refilling
- As soon as I started to inject the ink in Lexmark #17 cartridge, it started to drip out the bottom. What happened?
First, this cartridge is not very large; it cannot hold very much ink. Notice how much ink you injected into the cartridge. When refilling it, do not push needle too deep into the cartridge.
How much ink is able to fill into the cartridge? As Lexmark indicates, the #17 black ink cartridge is a "moderate use" cartridge. It contains less ink than #16 ink cartridge, although they both look alike physically. For the #17 cartridge, we suggest to refill up to 6ml ink (10ml for #16).
The cartridge contains foam to hold the ink. Between the foam and print head (at bottom of the cartridge), there is a small screen filter. If the needle was pushed to far during refilling, the filter will be damaged. This will cause the ink to leak.
- How much ink is enough to refill Lexmark ink cartridges?
For Lexmark ink cartridges, we recommend the following:
- Large ones:
- Black cartridge: e.g. #50/#70, up to 20ml. We suggest 15~18ml; - Color cartridge: e.g. #60/#20, up to 8ml for each color. We suggest 5ml each color.
- Middle ones:
- Black cartridge: e.g. #82/#32, up to 15ml. We suggest 12ml; - Color cartridge: e.g. #83/#33/#31, up to 7ml for each color. We suggest 5ml each color.
- Small ones:
- Black cartridge: e.g. #16/#17, up to 10ml. We suggest 5ml for #17 and 8ml for #16; - Color cartridge: e.g. #26/#27, up to 3ml for each color. We suggest 2~3 ml each color.
